LEONA S SUCHER
Passed away Thursday, March 4, 2021, age 87 of Drexel since 1977, and previously of Collingdale and SW Philadelphia. Born June 16, 1933, in Philadelphia, to the late Edgar and Leona (Johnson) Simpler. She graduated from Bartram High School in 1951, and from Delaware County Community College with a Nursing Degree. Leona worked at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia from 1975 until her retirement in 2004.
Leona was a lifetime member of the St. James Kingsessing Church of Philadelphia, where she had served on the Altar Guild, Daughters of the King, Womens Group, and served as Treasurer for most of the groups within the church.
The former Leona Simpler, married the late Lawrence Sucher in 1956, and who passed away in 1991. She then married Fred Davidson in 1993, who passed away 2019. She is survived by her daughter Joanne (Ken) Hawkins of Drexel Hill, her four grandchildren; Zachary, Alexis, Jacqueline, and Elizabeth. She was predeceased by her daughter Cynthia, and her siblings Kate Haddock and Edgar Simpler, Jr.
A celebration of her life will be held later at the St. James Kingsessing Church, when the COVID-19 restrictions permit a gathering of people. Please check back regularly as an update for the services will be posted when we can safely gather to celebrate Leona’s life.
