Katherine “Kay” Bell was born on May 11, 1925 in Jersey City, New Jersey to Spencer and Katherine Carpenter. After graduating from St. Elizabeth’s College, she taught Latin and French at Asbury Park High School. She married John F. Bell in 1948 and together they had a daughter and three sons.
Katherine was a member of St. Mark’s Methodist Church (Broomall) and more recently Grove Methodist Church (West Chester). Her love of Nature was reflected in her volunteering as a teacher at Tyler Arboretum for many years. She was a devoted fan of the Philadelphia Flyers hockey team. She also loved travelling which included numerous trips to Europe and California.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John F. Bell and her brother, Spencer Carpenter III.
She is survived by her four children Katherine Stankiewicz (Newtown Square, PA), John Bell (Mt. Sidney, VA), Thomas Bell (Bloomfield, CA), and Donald Bell (Broomall, PA), as well as four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
